Election Season at CMCH
The Primary classes all celebrated Election Day in creative, hands-on ways that introduced our young learners to the importance of voting. In the Ladybug class, each child cast their vote, resulting in a playful win of 22 votes for Trump and 2 for Harris. Leading up to the vote, they practiced reading and writing, learned election-related words like ballot and candidate, and explored U.S. geography through maps and flags. Discussions about voting sparked insightful ideas, with one child announcing, “I want to be the first Jewish President!”
Meanwhile, the Bees took the experience further by nominating two classmates, Yisroel Mentz and Meir Brafman, as candidates. They made campaign speeches, created ID badges, campaign signs, and even set up a voting booth! This activity taught the children not only the practical side of voting but also introduced them to concepts of leadership, fairness, and community participation.
The Frog class joined in the Election Day fun with a choice that was close to their hearts: extra outside playtime or extra art time! This hands-on activity helped the Frogs understand how voting allows everyone to have a say in decisions that matter, showing them that their preferences count. In the end, they celebrated the winning choice together, learning that participation is as rewarding as the result.
The classes’ activities were filled with excitement and learning, showing the children that voting is a meaningful way to express their voice and make a difference—even in a classroom setting.
